When rapper SmokePurpp set out to design a custom jewelry piece, he wasn’t looking for another chain. He wanted a symbol of his journey; something permanent, personal, and powerful. That vision led him to Icecartel, the custom jeweler known for pushing boundaries in design and craftsmanship.
The result: a one-of-one, 14K gold pendant, fully iced out with over 3,800 hand-set VVS1 diamonds. This wasn’t just jewelry. It was a legacy, locked in ice. And the price? Nothing short of $100k!
From Vision to Reality
The process began with SmokePurpp’s idea: a statement piece that carried his mantra “No Pain, No Progress” engraved into the back. That message isn’t just a phrase; it’s his story, from early SoundCloud days to performing on global stages.
SmokePurpp requested two versions of the same design:
A trophy pendant, five inches tall and 14K of solid white gold, built as the ultimate stage piece.
A smaller 1.5-inch pendant, lighter and slimmer, for daily wear.
To complement both, Icecartel created a 20-millimeter infinity link chain with star-shaped links and a fully custom clasp spelling out PURPP, detailed with yellow stones and framed in white diamonds.
Every design decision came straight from the artist himself, ensuring the final set was both personal and iconic.
The Craft Behind the Ice
Luxury jewelry is measured not just in carats, but in craft. This project required over 150 hours of labor, with meticulous attention to every cut and setting.
Highlights include:
3,800+ VVS1 diamonds, all hand-placed in a honeycomb setting.
Invisible bail technique, an innovation that allows the chain to run seamlessly through the back of the pendant — no visible hooks or clasps.
4 pounds of pure white gold, a weight you feel instantly in hand.
As one of Icecartel’s master jewelers said,
“Every cut had to be perfect. One mistake with this much gold and diamond density means starting over. Precision was everything.”
The Delivery Moment
When the Icecartel team flew to Miami for the handover, SmokePurpp’s reaction said it all. The weight, the shine, and the engraving combined into something larger than jewelry.
